Check species, age and weight

Match the exact package to the species and weight class, and confirm minimum age and other restrictions. Do not use a dog-only product on a cat. Compare the exact product name, active-ingredient label, number of applications or items and package weight range. A family of products can include several presentations that are not interchangeable. Use the directions on the package you receive. Keep the packaging, and seek veterinary advice if a reaction occurs. Do not infer directions from an old photograph, a social-media demonstration or another animal’s product. Household or yard products are not automatically intended for direct application to a pet.
